Short Term InterventionPhoto

GAP's professional staff, trained group facilitators and mentors are available for short-term intervention. Regular group participants can request help with the following common issues:
  • Creating proactive relationships with the child's school or doctor
  • Advocating on the caregiver's behalf to courts, Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) or Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)
  • Interaction with birth parents

Individual and Family Crisis Counseling

GAP's weekly therapeutic groups are a good place where relatives will receive:
  • Emotional guidance for difficult situations
  • Help with anger management techniques
  • The support of a trained, compassionate listener
  • Respite opportunities
